Rumours surrounding an impending Australian tour from Queen have been confirmed this morning with the band revealing a run of headlining dates bringing Queen to our shores for the first time in 30 years this August.
The legendary rock band will be fronted by Adam Lambert, whose earlier performances on a “once-off” US tour left even the most stubborn Queen fans raving after frontig founding members Brian May and Roger Taylor.
“I’m completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon,” says Lambert. “The thought of sharing the stage for a full set in Australia is so beautifully surreal. I’m honoured to be able to pay my respects to Freddie’s memory; he’s a personal hero of mine, and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band. I know this tour will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band, I feel like magic will be on display.”
The band took to Twitter last week to tease an upcoming tour announcement, saying it would be “the first time in 30 years” Queen would be returning to the undisclosed location. The band haven’t been to Australia since touring in 1985, still with all the band’s original members.
Of course this time will be sans the great Freddie Mercury, but rest assured touring mastermind Paul Dainty is positive “Adam Lambert fronting Queen will astound audiences.”
