Papa Vs Pretty Have Split Up

Sydney-based indie outfit Papa Vs Pretty have announced that they have broken up. The indie rockers took to their official Facebook to break the news to their fans. The four-piece were well-known in the Aussie indie scene and released their second album, White Deer Park, in February.

“After almost a decade of making music as Papa vs Pretty we are sad to announce that all good things come to an end,” opened the Facebook missive. “It’s been a privilege and a pleasure making music together and we’ll continue to pursue our love of music and remain the best of friends.”

“Thank-you to everyone who has supported us along the way!” the band add. Minutes before the official announcement was made, the band changed their Facebook header to an image of the four band members standing in a grassy field, emblazoned with the words, “Thank-you and good-bye.”

Founded in 2006, Papa Vs Pretty began as a solo project by frontman Thomas Rawle. After recruiting bassist Angus Gardiner, drummer Tom Myers, and guitarist/keyboardist Luke Liang, the band gained popularity on the strength of their much-lauded 2011 debut album, United in Isolation.

The band quickly developed a strong fan following in the Australian indie music scene and were notable for their difficult-to-pin-down musical style, which mixed elements of traditional indie, pop, and alternative rock styles, with jangle pop, grunge, hard rock, and electronica influences.
