Chet Faker Is One Of The Most Blogged About Artists Of 2014

Tastemaking music database Hype Machine has compiled a special half-year Music Blog Zeitgeist, listing the most-blogged artists of 2014 thus far and giving music fans a hint as to who they should look out for over the coming months. One of those artists is Melbourne’s hirsute electronic impressionist, Chet Faker.

Faker, whose debut album Built On Glass was released this past April, landed at number 14 on the most blogged about Top 20 list. The list is put together by tracking the coverage of tracks and artists on over 820 of the most influential blogs,

Faker’s position was most likely spurred by the number of remix’s of his singles that have since surfaced, including Ta-Ku‘s Talk Is Cheap remix and Flume’s re-work of Gold.

Topping the list is Californian singer-songwriter BANKS, aka Jillian Banks, who was named as on of the top five acts in the BBC’s Sound of 2014 guide. Her highly-anticipated debut album Goddess is expected to be released this September.

Coming in second is Swedish electronic five-piece Little Dragon, who are heading our way this August, followed by Canadian electrofunk duo Chromeo, electronic musician Caribou and recent Splendour dropouts London Grammar.

New Zealand’s most successful pop export Lorde featured at number 13 on this list, while her fellow countrymen, dream-pop three-piece Yumi Zouma, scored the number 9 spot. The list also names Cloud Nothings, Drake, Sam Smith and Glass Animals. See the full top 20 below.
