Basement Jaxx To Headline Future Music Festival 2015 Lineup?

British dance duo Basement Jaxx are on the cusp of releasing their first full length since 2009’s Zephyr, with their seventh studio album Junto expected to drop next Friday 22nd August, and the boys have revealed they’re eyeing February for a possible Australian tour, just in time for Future Music Festival 2015.

“I’m really hoping that we can come in February and do some shows,” one half of the duo, Felix Buxton told Music Feeds. “We just did Fuji Rock Festival in Japan and then Camp Bestival – we headlined that here in the UK – and we had a whole load of people on stage. But I’d love to bring the whole load of people down to Australia as well!”

A February tour could put the band in the country just in time for Future Music Festival 2015, which generally falls in early March. Basement Jaxx are also associated with Mushroom Group who last year announced a “strategic alliance” with Future Entertainment, the company responsible for the nationally touring Future Music Festival and its under-18s counterpart, Good Life festival.

Good Life and FMF traditionally have similar lineups. Good Life 2014 kicked off just before FMF 2014 on February 28th. Basement Jaxx have played Future Music previously in 2009.

Of course, it’s entirely possible the pair will have their own headline tour in 2015, though Basement Jaxx sure do love their festival sets, and we think they’d be the perfect fit for FMF 2015.

The duo were last in the Australia in early 2013 for a series of DJ sets with Cricket Australia. Buxton’s comments indicate he’s now leaning towards the full live experience for their next trip.

The band recently released the trippy video for Galactical, the bonus track off Junto’s deluxe edition, which features glowing, animated neon-striped Japanese dance troupe Wrecking Crew Orchestra moving across a deep-sea landscape. It was directed by motion graphics artist Hadaya Turner whose portfolio includes collaborations with director Hype Williams on Kanye West‘s All of the Lights and DJ Khaled‘s Wish You Were Dead.

Junto will be released in Australia on Friday, 22nd August 2014 through Atlantic Jaxx/[PIAS] Australia.
