New Zealand pop phenom Lorde continues to tour the world in support of her debut album Pure Heroin, and has now added covers of Kanye West‘s Flashing Lights and Bon Iver‘s Heavenly Father to her performing repertoire. Videos of Lorde’s Yeezy and Bon Iver covers have now surfaced online, and are available below.
Lorde’s short cover of Flashing Lights, which took place at Philadelphia’s Mann Music Centre last week, led directly into her own song, Bravado. Heavenly Father, luckily, was played in full. Before singing the track, Lorde introduced the song and spoke of what it means to her. “This song is a cover,” she said. “It’s about having faith, in something, anyone, in yourself.”
As Consequence of Sound point out, Lorde’s setlists have contained covers in the past, including tracks such as James Blake’s Retrograde, Son Lux’s Easy, The Replacements’ Swingin Party and Kanye West’s Hold My Liquor.
