Jimmy Barnes has been forced to cancel his appearance at this year’s Deni Ute Muster as well as Darwin festival One Tropical Day under doctor’s orders, as the prized Australian music icon continues to deal with health problems.
In recent weeks Barnes has suffered from complications related to an elective back surgery, which have already seen Barnsey postpone the first two dates of his 30th anniversary national tour, 30:30 Hindsight. Unfortunately the Deni Ute Muster can’t be rescheduled leaving fans and Barnes disappointed alike.
“I’m so sorry, Musterers,” Barnes apologised in a statement. “I’ve been hoping and doing everything I can to get myself well enough to join you next weekend but it’s taking longer to bounce back than we thought.”
Barnes expressed further regret to miss out on “one of the great Australian events” and described the decision to cancel his set as “heartbreaking”. In his stead country singer Kasey Chambers has been added to the lineup while The Mavericks have taken over Barnes’ headlining spot.
The Cold Chisel frontman has also cancelled his performance on Friday, 10th October at One Tropical Day. Darwin Events have announced that the Hoodoo Gurus have been added to the bill. Those seeking a refund for One Tropical Day have been advised to do so through their place of purchase.
