Anti-fracking awareness event Rock The Gate has unveiled a 64-band program to fill seven Sydney venues in late November. The 2014 Rock The Gate lineup has added a plethora of artists from alt-country, electronica, blues, acoustic and hip hop to help voice the concerns of Australia’s anti-fracking movement, led by the national alliance Lock The Gate.
Rock The Gate’s inaugural headliners were announced in early October, and included names such as Pete Murray, blues guitarist Ask Grunwald, rockers Tex Perkins and the Dark Horses and Aussie roots veteran Natalie Pa’apa’a of Blue King Brown.
Event organisers have now filled the seven stages superbly, adding comedians, indigenous dancers and local community members to the lineup. Melburnian David Bridie (pictured) has been added to the bill, as well as indigenous musician Radical Son and American electronic act Biolumingen, to name a few.
Sydney’s Enmore Theatre will act as Rock The Gate’s 2014 main stage, with The Town Hall hosting alt country tunes, The Sly Fox dabbling in some conscious hip hop, The Midnight Special showcasing blues music, Secret Garden hosting electronica, and The Green Room and The Warren View staging acoustic sets.
