UPDATE 27/02/15: Lenny Kravitz has cancelled his upcoming Australian tour, including his headlining set at Bluesfest. Festival organisers say they are working on a replacement act for the opening night slot, but Kravitz’s solo dates have yet to be re-scheduled. See refund options, here.
Having already been announced to headline the opening night of Bluesfest 2015, Lenny Kravitz is extending his Australian tour with headline dates in Sydney and Melbourne, which will see him play to massive arena crowds in April.
When the Are You Gonna Go My Way singer returns to Australia, he’ll be backed by his 10th studio album, Strut, which sees him continuing to blend together characteristics of rock and funk. The jaunt will be Kravitz’s third trip down under in the last 20 years.
Having self-produced and arranged Strut, Kravitz has said he didn’t want to over-produce his own music. “My approach to the production was not to produce it. The whole point was not to rethink or overthink it,” he said.
Kravitz will be Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Monday, 6th April and Sydney’s Qantas Credit Union Arena on Wednesday, 8th April, and will be supported by another Bluesfest act, New Orleans jazz/funk outfit Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, at both shows.
