Dave Grohl, Corey Taylor’s Supergroup Teenage Time Killer Secure Record Deal

Teenage Time Killer, a supergroup spearheaded by Mike Dean and Reed Mullin of Corrosion of Conformity and featuring collaborations with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor have signed a deal with Rise Records and are reportedly prepping an album release for early 2015.

The hardcore supergroup also boasts collaborators such as Dead Kennedys’ Jello Biafra, Foo Fighters’ Pat Smear, Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe, Black Flag’s Keith Morris and ex-Queen’s Of The Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri.

Reports Kerrang!, the metal supergroup revealed that the instrumental parts of their upcoming debut were recorded at Dave Grohl’s 606 Studio in Northridge, California on the mixing board featured in his documentary Sound City.

While no official release date has been announced for the Teenage Time Killer debut record, Reed Mullin, told Indy Week it would come out in January and that it was being mastered by Bill Stevenson from the Descendents.

He also said the possibility of the group touring the record following its release was still uncertain. “Dave Grohl’s folks—his management and marketing people—are going to help us do all that with the thing. We recorded about 98 percent of it at his studio. They were talking about—since there’s so many people from so many different bands—maybe do something like [Jimmy] Kimmel [Live!] and have three or four different singers come out at one time, like Jello and Lee Ving, maybe Randy from Lamb of God, something like that,” he said.

“All the songs are real short, so we could do, easily, four songs and not go over. But you know, we’d have Brian Baker come out and play guitar, Pat Smear play bass or guitar or whatever. It’s pretty star-studded.”

The project was first announced in February. Speaking to New York radio station WFMU, via NME, Reed Mullin said that the project was initially supposed to be much shorter but grew in size with the number of people who became involved.

“We had all these other folks that want to participate. It’s a very good mixture of old hardcore punk, punk and metal stuff…People are going to be pleasantly surprised. It’s pretty cool.” Corrosion of Conformity recently shared a video of Teenage Time Killer recording in the studio.

The video, below, features Reed Mullin and Mike Dean in the studio with the Ghost of Saturday Nite singer Jonny Webber. Alas, according to AJ Maddah this supergroup is not the other one promised to be revealed soon by the promoter as the next addition to the Soundwave 2015 bill. He says he’s “not sure who that is”.
