Ministry, Godflesh Sidewaves Announced

Chicago industrial metal outfit Ministry and England’s Godflesh are the latest to join the Sidewave party today announcing two headlining sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney.

The industrial rockers will play Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Tuesday 24th February followed by a headlining show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Friday 27th February.

It’s been 20 years since Ministry last toured Australia, their last visit being 1995’s Big Day Out. They will be touring with their latest album From Beer To Eternity, which the band have said may be their last, since their guitarist Mike Scaccia died in 2012 after collapsing on stage.

Frontman Al Jourgensen told Music Feeds last year an Australian tour was one of the late guitarists’ last wishes. “Two days before he [Mike Scaccia] died he got done with his parts on the album and he had the biggest smile on his face and he said, ‘This is the best album Ministry has ever done and we have to tour and we have to go to Australia again because we had so much fun last time in ’95’. Then he died,” said Jourgensen. “So I’m keeping up his wishes.”

Fans of the UK’s Godflesh will be able to see the Birmingham outfit bring their 2014 album A World Lit Only by Fire, their first album in 13 years, to life for Australian crowds on the band’s first ever Australian tour.

Tickets go on sale Friday 6th February at 9am local time. See tour dates and ticketing information below. For more Sidewaves info, check our details page or follow our Sidewaves Feed.
