Aussie songstress Courtney Barnett has made her US daytime TV debut on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, delivering a low key rendition of her live favourite, Depreston, off forthcoming album, Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit.
The full-length disc won’t see its Aussie release til this Friday, 20th March, but Barnett has jumped the gun by offering it up as a full stream, today (listen below).
And, it’s safe to say, Ellen is a big fan. “Our next guest is one of my favourite new artists, I love her so much,” the talk show queen gushed by way of introduction to Barnett’s enigmatic performance.
The Ellen episode, which also features guest appearances by Scandal actress Bellamy Young and the freaking First Lady herself, Michelle Obama, officially premieres on Aussie TV at midday today.
Now that Barnett has conquered US daytime TV, she’ll continue her American tale by heading to Austin’s South By Southwest conference to showcase her forthcoming debut full-length, before returning to Australia for a home-turf tour this May, to which she’s just added a bunch of dates.
Following the release of her brand spanker, Barnett will also be dropping a special Kim’s Caravan 12 inch vinyl for Record Store Day, featuring the track of the same name taken from her debut album, as well as a cover of John Cale’s Close Watch.
You can find all that info in our Courtney Barnett Feed, or check out her Ellen debut, and official album stream, below.
