Nelly may be about to swap that Band-Aid on his face for a tear tattoo, with news coming through today of his arrest on felony drug charges in Tennessee on Saturday.
The 40-year-old hip hop star, real name Cornell Haynes (yeah, we see why he went with Nelly instead), was arrested and taken to Putnam County Jail in the southern US state after his tour bus was pulled over by police for not displaying proper signage.
Police say they searched the tour bus, carrying six people, after they noticed a strong smell of marijuana. It’s here police allege they found marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, plus a variety of handguns including a gold-plated .50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol.
Haynes has already posted bail and left the jail. His lawyer, Scott Rosenblum, said in a statement (Via CNN that he was “extremely confident that when the facts come out, Nelly will not be associated with the contraband that was allegedly discovered.”
Nelly was in Australia recently in January for a tour with B.O.B and Lupe Fiasco.
