It’s something we’ve all done at least once, whether after a successful five metre lob-shot into the garbage bin, getting through a first date without vomiting once or even just leaving the bed on a cold morning and raising a single clenched fist in victory, swirling guitar chords and the timeless “HEY HEY HEY” reverberating through your mind as you freeze-frame for just that little too long.
The closing scene of the 1985 John Hughes cinematic gem The Breakfast Club is about as iconic as they come and the accompanying song, Simple Minds’ Don’t You (Forget About Me), is forever intwined with memories of teenage rebellion, personal expression and overcoming dickhead teachers.
Well prepare to get your nostalgia cannons firing, because Simple Minds just performed the vintage jam at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards for the 30th anniversary of The Breakfast Club, and were introduced by none other the princess herself, Molly Ringwald.
Check out the ageless classic brought to life once again below and chuck up a single-fist freezie, for old time’s sake.
