Sydney beatmaker Kilter and future-folk artist Ngaiire have taken to the triple j studios this morning for a soulful cover of Muscles‘ fun-loving 2007 hit, Ice Cream, as part of the broadcaster’s Live A Version covers segment.
Flexing their musical muscles (pun very much intended), Kilter and Ngaiire paired slow-swelling synths with electronic percussion, guitar and soul vocals, turning Muscles’ original dance track into a chilled-out escape.
While in the studio, Kilter also took time out to perform a reworked version his original track, Want 2, complete with vocals from UK-born Sydneysider Deutsch Duke.
Kilter described the new version as “darker and moodier” than the original, which was released last month. See if you can spot Jai Paul’s influence on the new version, too.
