Hear Meg Mac’s Gospel-Infused New Single ‘Never Be’

Off the back of her Splendour In The Grass performance, Aussie soul-pop artist Meg Mac has finally dropped her new single Never Be, which is set to get quite a workout during her upcoming national tour.

Never Be (below) is the first new Meg Mac material since her 2014 self-titled debut EP. The track sees Mac’s soulful vocals team up with piano-backed gospel tones and some powerful backing vocals from her little sister, Hannah Mac, who she performed with at Splendour In The Grass earlier this week.

Never Be is also a collaboration with producer and rapper M-Phazes, who produced Meg Mac’s cover of Bill Withers’ Grandma’s Hands.

Meg Mac’s upcoming national tour in support of Never Be kicks off in Fremantle this September, before heading to Perth, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The tour comes before she appears as a local guest on Mumford & Sons’ huge Gentlemen Of The Road shows in November, and eventually returns to the US to continue work on her debut album.

“I’ve done all the hard emotional songwriting work and now it’s to the performance and the recording,” Meg told triple j about the album’s progress.
