Slipknot Bassist Rushed To Hospital Mid-Set

Slipknot bassist Alessandro “Vman” Venturella has been taken to hospital after experiencing an unknown medical emergency on stage, but it hasn’t stopped the band from finishing off their set without him.

As Blabbermouth reports, Slipknot’s performance in Hartford, Connecticut on Sunday, 2nd August, was momentarily cut short when Venturella was rushed to hospital only a handful of songs into the set.

Slipknot returned to the stage without Venturella around 20 minutes later, and frontman Corey Taylor addressed the crowd, saying, “I’m gonna let you know what’s going on right now. I’m sorry to say that our bass player, Alex, had… Something happened. I’m not sure what happened.

“He’s been put into an ambulance and he’s going to the hospital right now as we speak. But I want you all to make fucking noise for him. Send him some fucking love.

“Now, we had the choice to come back out here. We’ve had to modify some shit, but we are gonna fuckin’ keep on playing for you. It’s what we want, it’s what Alex would fucking want.”

Currently touring as part of their Summer’s Last Stand tour, Slipknot have shared a stage-shot video of their Hartford crowd chanting “Alex” during the show. Catch that video, alongside footage of Taylor’s message for the crowd, below.

At the time of writing, Slipknot are yet to make a public statement in regards to Venturella’s health and the medical emergency he experienced on stage in Hartford.

UPDATE 04/08/15: Slipknot have posted a statement updating on the status of Venturella’s health.
