Canadian rockers The Tea Party must really like Australia. They’ve already toured here 14 times before, and they’re now set to return to our shores for another healthy-sized tour to make us feel really old celebrate the 20th anniversary of their breakthrough 1995 album, The Edges Of Twilight.
The five-date trek kicks off in November, with the trio plotting a trajectory that will take them from Perth, to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and finally Brisbane.
And for the first time in Australia, they’ll be performing their iconic sophomore LP, which contains fan favourites such as Sister Awake, The Bazaar, Fire In The Head and Correspondences, in its entirety.
And it gets even more exciting for The Tea Party diehards. The performance of the full Edges Of Twilight tracklist will only make up the “first set” of each performance and, after an intermission (classay), Jeff Martin, Jeff Burrows and Stuart Chatwood will return to the stage for a second helping of hits from across their entire catalogue.
“People often ask me ‘what does The Edges of Twilight mean to me as a musician?’” says Martin. “My answer, although not so simple, is simply this: it was the crystallization and the manifestation of an incredible musical vision between the three of us, and the fact that it was achieved in such a way was probably, and is still, one of the proudest musical achievements of my life.”
The band also plans to release both a deluxe edition CD of the album and a 2LP 180 Gram Heavyweight Vinyl edition of the original release with remastered audio to commemorate the 20 year milestone.
