Birds Of Tokyo Unveil Uplifting New Single ‘I’d Go With You Anywhere’

Perth’s own Birds Of Tokyo have just released new single I’d Go With You Anywhere ahead of a run of year ending festival dates and hot on the heels of their latest EP, Anchor, released in April.

A foray into new territory for the boys, I’d Go With You Anywhere sees the band embracing some new instrumentation. Building around a stabbing cello hook, the song’s full bodied acoustic guitar and Ian Kenny’s soaring emotional vocals fill out the rest of the space in technicolor.

Discussing their plans for the rest of 2015, as well as their successes so far on triple j last night, the band decided the youth broadcaster would be as good a place as any to launch the new single. Speaking of the track on air, guitarist Adam Spark described it as “a reaction to some of the more electronic things we’ve done in recent times but then that’s not to say it’s not swinging back to that in a different way.”

Currently working on a new album, with more than 30 songs in various stages of completion, I’d Go With You Anywhere is not a signpost of what to expect from the upcoming LP.

“What we do after this particular track is completely different to this again,” said Spark. “This song isn’t really a precursor to this big body of work we’re working on at the moment.”

Currently on tour, you can find out more at the bands website and you can listen to I’d Go With You Anywhere here below.
