The health of Thirsty Merc touring drummer Mick Skelton is continuing to improve, following last week’s devastating car crash that claimed the life of the band’s stage manager.
According to Mick’s longtime mate Sarah McLeod, who’s been keeping fans updated about his condition via social media, the stickman is now out of intensive care, which means his condition has dramatically improved.
“Ladies and gentlemen it is with GREAT PRIDE that I bring you this news MICK SKELTON is officially out of intensive care!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” The Superjesus champ posted on Facebook.
The good news follows another positive update from McLeod, who reported on Sunday afternoon that Skelton had awoken from his coma and was now breathing on his own, after being admitted to Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital on Tuesday (22nd September) in a critical condition.
It’s heartening news following the tragic crash, which claimed the life of Thirsty Merc stage manager Shane Cooper, as the band was travelling to a gig in Western Victoria.
Meanwhile, the future of the band’s national tour in support of new album Shifting Gears remains unclear, with Thirsty Merc issuing a statement saying they “will let everyone know about future shows as soon as we can”.
Mick is also the permanent drummer for Aussie rock legends Baby Animals, who have just announced tour dates for March of 2016 alongside The Superjesus and legendary singer Bryan Adams.
Fingers crossed Mick will be back in fighting form by then!
