Seminal hip-hop act Public Enemy have helped Jimmy Kimmel close out his talk show’s brief tenure in Brooklyn with a fist-pumping musical guest spot.
The veteran rappers busted out a supercharged six-and-a-half-minute medley of their incendiary 1990 classic Fight the Power, which also included snippets of Man Plans God Laughs and 911 Is a Joke.
Chuck D, Flavor Flav and the gang powered through the performance on Kimmel’s conspicuously pro-Brooklyn soundstage, after Flav appeared in an earlier skit called Do the Right Thing 2: Do the White Thing – a parody of the Spike Lee classic, set in 2015 Brooklyn.
As Kimmel describes, the film’s “sequel”, like its original, captures the “feeling and spirit of Brooklyn, New York” today, which seems to involve a whole bunch of hipsters with top knots munching on kale.
So basically Newtown.
Flav appears alongside an allstar cast, including Billy Crudup, Zooey Deschanel and Kimmel himself, after a disturbingly jaunty bluegrass version of Fight The Power plays out of a vinyl-enabled boombox.

Meanwhile, Public Enemy caught fans by surprise by dropping their 15th studio album, Man Plans God Laughs, earlier this year.
