One hit wonders or the most underrated act in history, Devo have been synonymous with quirky pop, post punk, art kitsch music longer than you or have been born (probably!) . In 1990 they released their last album Smooth Noodle Maps, but now after popping up here and there for live shows, the men in red (now blue) “Energy Dome” hats have unveiled the first cut from their brand new album tentatively titled Fresh.
Performing at the Winter Olympics, Devo played new song ‘Fresh’ to the chilly Canadians and then offered the track for free on their website for a brief 24 hour period.
In conjunction with making the album, the band has asked for fans to contribute through a series of focus groups to determine the direction the album will take. Starting with a colour study, fans can participate at www.clubdevo.com
The album is yet to have a release date and is set to include the services of Santigold and The Dust Brothers as producers.
