Metal legend Ronnie James Dio has died aged 67 while being treated at a Houston hospital for stomach cancer. A statement from his wife Wendy Dio read “Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May.”
The singer, known for popularising the devil horns gesture, was surrounded by family and friends. As well as leading iconic metal bands Elf, Rainbow and Heaven And Hell, Dio replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath when the latter was fired in 1979.
