Having just released his latest single Swear Jar, Illy has announced an accompanying national tour of the same name to support the release in February and March next year.
The first new music from the Aussie hip hopper since his 2013 gold selling album Cinematic, Swear Jar features production from Rahki (Kendrick Lamar, Talib Kweli) and well and truly marks Illy’s return to music. A tongue in cheek number calling out people who act like dicks online, the song is pretty much telling everyone to chill the fuck out.
Speaking of the track Illy says, “Swear Jar is a light hearted take on two very serious issues: that rare breed of dickhead artist who thinks they’re God’s gift to the world, and the far more common breed of dickhead that you find dwelling online, hurling abuse at others. They both suck. I wanted to write a song for them, and here it is. I hope they don’t like it”.
Working alongside beyondblue, who work to help people who’s lives are affected by depression, including victims of cyber bullying, Illy has also created a virtual swear jar online, inviting fans to donate money each time they swear.
With Melbourne’s Dylan Joel and Ghana born Citizen Kay also along for the tour, Illy’s Swear Jar tour is a truly stacked affair.
Taking in all capital cities and a small selection of regional shows, tickets go on sale this Friday 11th December at 9:00am. Full details are below, but in the meantime have a listen to the single itself here
