Family members of Jon English are putting on a public memorial service in memory of the departed Aussie legend.
The British-born actor and rock veteran passed away earlier this month at the age of 66, after succumbing to “post-operative complications”.
The service honouring English’s life and legacy will take place on Monday, 4th April at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre, which the English family says they picked because of its special significance to Jon’s memory.
“It was at the Capitol Theatre, Sydney, in 1972, that the Australian public first fell in love with Jon English,” they said in a press release (via The Music Network). “Playing Judas Iscariot in Jesus Christ Superstar, Jon launched himself into the stratosphere to become a household name, enjoyed, admired and loved by so many of us.”
“This memorial service is an occasion for the entertainment industry and Jon’s fans to come and celebrate Jon’s life with tributes and performances in memory of Jon.”
Fans are encouraged to arrive at 4.30pm for a 5pm start, and “everyone is invited and very welcome” to attend and pay their respects to this Aussie legend.
