Melbourne band City Calm Down have dropped into triple j for ‘Like A Version’ this morning ahead of their show at Oxford Art Factory this evening.
The kicked off the show with a cover of what sounded like a legit introduction to Dr Dre‘s The Next Episode, only to cut it short after an epic recorder solo and mic drop.

They then moved onto their real cover, choosing to take on British rockers
Foals' most epic ballad
Spanish Sahara.
Joined in the studio by a whole bunch of horns, City Calm Down put their own spin on the intricacies of the track, really doing true justice to what is a difficult style to emulate. Jack Bourke does incredibly well on vocals despite not having a range quite as encompassing as Yannis Philippakis.
City Calm Down kick off a string of headlining dates in Sydney this evening, before playing shows in Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne over the next week.
