The Cure have this morning announced their Australian return, playing a string of arena sideshows for Splendour In The Grass 2016.
The first time the band have visited us since they were out for Vivid in 2011, selling out their shows at Sydney’s Opera House, the Splendour headliners will play arena shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth this July.
The Cure will head up Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena (formerly Allphones Arena) on Monday July 25th and Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Thursday July 28th, with details of the Adelaide and Perth shows to be announced at a later date.
The band – made up of Robert Smith (voice/guitar), Simon Gallup (bass), Jason Cooper (drums), Roger O’Donnell (keys) and Reeves Gabrels (guitar) – will explore 37 years of Cure songs, including hits, rarities, favourites as well as unreleased tracks.
