In what would be yet another to blow to Sydney’s music scene, local council are threatening to get rid of a Bondi recording studio to make way for restaurants and cafes but Art Vs Science reckon we can stop them.
The Sydney trio recorded most of their last album Off the Edge of the Earth and Into Forever, Forever at the community studio inside Bondi Pavilion and reckon it could “be a world class studio right here on the beach in Bondi”.
Art Vs Science have taken to their Facebook to ask for everybody’s help saving the recording studio which has also been used by RÜFÜS and other international acts on their way through Sydney.
“You can jam and then swim and then record and then get a coffee…this is an incredible place to make a record,” frontman Dan McNamee says in the video, playing a very good salesman.
Is it about making money or is it about making life better for the people of the community?” adds bandmate Jim Finn.
There are a few things that you can do to help save the studio as specified by Art Vs Science in the video. There’s a Waverly Council meeting this afternoon at Waverly Council Chambers at 5pm. They’re asking for you to “rock up and show your support”.
If you can’t do that you can also call them on 90838000 and show your support that way.
There’s also a “Save The Pavilion” event on 5th June from 1 to 4pm featuring a performance by Dave Faulkner of Hoodoo Gurus. You can check out all the details here.
