Pioneers of garage rock cool The Dandy Warhols this morning announced their return to Australian stages, bringing for the first time their brand new record Distortland. The band were last in town as part of Splendour 2015, leaving fans with some very fond memories.
Described as Portland’s answer to Brit-Pop, Portland’s Dandy Warhols released their latest full-length effort earlier in the year. Keeping things as ’90s as ever, the album began to take form on an ’80s cassette recorder in the basement of frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor. However, A solid dose of contemporary music is added by mixed Jim Lowe who usually works on the Justin Biebers / Beyonces of the world.
Turns out, the album the band didn’t give a shit if you liked or not went down pretty well Down Under. Though focus will be put on Distortland, fans can still expect to wrap their eyes and ears around some Dandy classics like We Used To Be Friends, Everyday Should Be A Holiday and Bohemian Like You as it would not be a Dandys show without them.
