The mud at Splendour In The Grass last year drew almost as much attention as the headline acts but that pales in comparison to the pictures emerging from UK festival Download which went down over the weekend.
The festival in Leicestershire is now being dubbed Drownload as the rain made the festival one giant mud bath.
More than 80,000 people attended the event headlined by Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Rammstein. They were hit with torrential rain which caused flooding throughout the campsite. One punter took a video of running water streaming through tents as if they were camping in the middle of a river.
The weather has been cruel to festivals so far this year. Lightning struck at injured people last week at Germany’s Rock Am Ring and the final day of NYC’s Governors Ball was cancelled due to bad weather warnings.
The UK has always had notoriously bad weather when it comes to summer festivals. Barely a year of Glastonbury goes by without muddy photos flooding the internet and just this weekend, both Field Day and Capital FM’s Summertime Ball also both dealt with rain.
