UPDATE 18/06/16: Meat Loaf is stable and said to be recovering well following the scare.
Meat Loaf is reportedly stable and “recovering well” after giving fans a fright during his recent performance in Canada.
The veteran rocker collapsed onstage in the middle of (apparently) lip-syncing to his hit I’d Do Anything For Love at Edmonton’s Jubilee Auditorium and was quickly rushed to hospital, leaving concert attendees understandably freaked out.
According to an update from his official Facebook page, Meat Loaf’s collapse was due to dehydration, and not a heart attack as many originally feared.
The statement reads:
“He was admitted to a nearby hospital to undergo routine tests. His vital signs are stable and normal — additional tests are being performed but he is responsive and recovering well.
He extends his heartfelt thanks for everyone’s support and well wishes, and is expecting a speedy and full recovery.”
At least one of his forthcoming tour dates has already been postponed, with more cancellations expected as the rocker recovers.
Meanwhile, more video footage has been posted online, showing the terrifying moment when the 68-year-old singer first collapsed.
Get well soon, Meat Loaf.
