Frances Bean Cobain’s divorce from her estranged 31-year-old husband Isaiah Silva is getting very messy, very quick with the latter allegedly refusing to return a guitar owned by Kurt Cobain and valued to be worth more than $1 million.
Silva reportedly believes it was a wedding gift but the Cobain family feel very different. Speaking on the matter, Courtney Love explained that the Martin D-18E – 1 of only 300 – used during the Nirvana’s iconic MTV Unplugged performance wasn’t ever a gift, “It’s a treasured heirloom of the family.”
Adding all the more to the sentimental value of the guitar is the fact it’s potentially the last one Kurt ever played, as he committed suicide so soon after the unplugged session. Back in the day, the axe was valued at around $1.3 million but according to TMZ could be several times that now.

Most people would have the decency to return such a renown cultural centrepiece to the family. But we’re guessing Silva, who’s claim to fame online is ‘Frances Bean Cobain’s husband’ won’t give it up without a fight. After all, the guitar has since been modified from a lefty.
After two years of marriage, Cobain filed for a divorce from Silva earlier in the year citing irreconcilable differences.
