Original Story: It’s been a massive year for punk rock, and rock in general and now Green Day have officially announced that they’ll add to the list of bands who’ve released new music in 2016; joining Blink-182, Sum 41, DESCENDENTS and heaps more.
Earlier this year Green Day began to tease new music with frontman Billie Joe Armstrong uploading some images and a quick video of a recording set up.
Now, Armstrong has alleviated all doubt, tweeting an official release date for the band’s first new single. The song will be titled BANG BANG (all in caps apparently) and is being teased for an August 11 release date.

To say that Green Day fans are pretty excited would be a pretty enormous understatement and typically many took to Twitter to try to put their anticipation into 140 characters; with some being slightly more articulate than others.
