This is a notice to let you all know that if you’ve never seen Swedish producer Avicii, you’re unlikely to ever as he retired over the weekend.
The man responsible for Levels, a hit that rarely goes a night unplayed in any club, said goodbye to touring in front of a packed-out crowd in Ibiza.
He played on Sunday night at Ushuaia Ibiza alongside EDM colleagues KSHMR and Seeb at a gig he says, “will go down in history”.
It capped off a weekend that included a set at Tennent’s Vital festival in Belfast and another at Creamfields in the UK. He’d held a residency at Ushuaia Ibiza for five years, making it a fitting place to bid farewell.
“I will…never let go of music – I will continue to speak to my fans through it, but I’ve decided this 2016 run will be my last tour and last shows. Let’s make them go out with a bang,” he told fans earlier this year.
Avicii is retiring at the ripe age of 26 which is a luxury given that the rest of us will probably work until 70 before we can even afford to retire and maybe fit in a trip to Ibiza.
“There’s so much I want to do with my life,” Avicii said upon announcing his retirement but we’re not sure exactly what he’s going to do yet.
It’s hard to imagine what his retirement is going to look like given that his touring life looked like this:
Anyway, farewell Avicii. Thanks for the memories.
The last show…Thank you @Avicii ???
You are the best always. #wbrb #AviciionTour pic.twitter.com/uYBOMgM3i9
