UPDATE 29/11/16: Neil Young’s Australian Tour has now been cancelled before dates were even announced. However he is still scheduled to perform at Bluesfest 2017.
Veteran Canadian rocker Neil Young will be returning to Australia in 2017 to headline Bluesfest, and will also perform a bunch of headline shows around the country.
Touring company Frontier Touring have today announced that Young and his band Promise Of The Real have locked in an Australian tour.
In a statement, Frontier Touring says, “Neil Young, one of rock’s most revered songwriters and performers, will be returning to Australia and New Zealand in 2017 for his first shows down under in four years.
“Young will perform headline dates in both countries, including indoor arenas and special outdoor shows. He’ll be joined on stage by Promise of the Real – a five-piece Californian band featuring Willie Nelson’s sons Lukas and Micah.”
Frontier Touring has also shared a teaser image (below) for the tour, which includes a picture of a clock with 12th October 2016 on it, which is presumably when individual tour dates and venues will be announced.
While the shows will be Young’s first down under in four years, earlier this morning he was announced the lineup for Bluesfest 2017.
