LA four-piece Warpaint have announced a series of Australian headline shows for 2017.
On what will be the band’s first tour of Australia in three years, they’ve already locked in a gig at Melbourne Zoo Twilights, and have also revealed they’ll play headline shows in Brisbane and in Sydney, where they’ll make their Sydney Opera House debut.
Warpaint have been on two world tours since they first played in Australia, and have come a long way since they released their debut EP in 2008. They’ve since recruited Sydney girl Stella Mozgawa on drums and keyboard, and have gone from strength to strength, this year releasing their latest album Heads Up.
“We’ve always had this really jammy, high-energy live show compared to some of our records,” frontwoman Emily Kokal says of the record.
“We all love to dance. We didn’t want to take away from the emotion or the core feeling of what our band is all about—which I don’t even think we could take out if we wanted, because it is who we are—but we wanted to bump the speed up and have a little bit more fun.”
