Daft Punk Fans React As 2017 World Tour Rumours Are Crushed By Mysterious Website

Daft Punk fans have been up all night to get lucky disappointed.

The ‘wake date’ of that mysterious website that had everyone convinced an Alive 2017 tour was about to be announced has come and gone, revealing absolute sweet FA.

As a result, the internet is awash with anger, disappointment, and sweeping confusion. Fans are particularly outraged that if the whole was nothing but a mean-spirited troll, the jerks responsible didn’t even have the good decency to reveal it as such with, say, a rickroll.

But others are refusing to accept defeat, pointing out Daft Punk’s management’s refusal to comment on the legitimacy of the website — instead of dismissing it as a hoax — is proof that a tour announcement could still be brewing.

While some fans, in their grief, have resorted to acts of sheer desperation:

The mysterious Alive2017 website had us all pretty convinced that a Daft Punk tour announcement was on the cards for a number of reasons:

  1. Daft Punk have only ever toured the world twice, on their Alive 1997 and Alive 2007 tours (both of which hit Australia) so the significance of Alive 2017 is obvious, considering the electronic duo’s once-a-decade touring tradition.
  2. HTML-savvy Redditors checked out the website’s source code and discovered a bunch of hidden coordinates for locations (i.e. potential tour dates) in Paris, Los Angeles, London, New York, Tokyo, Sao Paulo and Ibiza, as well as a location “pretty close to Perth”.
  3. The website’s real owner took measures to keep themselves anonymous, which Daft Punk would probably do if they were trying to throw us off the scent.

And all of this could still be accurate. But for now, alls we can do is play the waiting game to find out if Aussie fans really will ~get lucky~ enough to see Daft Punk tour the country ~one more time~ in 2017.
