Bee Gees legend and Bluesfest 2017 headliner Barry Gibb has cancelled his appearance at the festival, as well as all his upcoming Australian headline shows.
In a statement, tour promoters Live Nation say the cancellation is “due to a change in international commitments”, and that scheduled shows in Australia and New Zealand in April won’t be going ahead, and “it is currently not possible to reschedule the performances”.
In a separate statement, Bluesfest Festival Director Peter Noble says event organisers “already have an offer in for an amazing artist to take [Gibb’s] place”.
Following Neil Young’s recent cancellation of his own Bluesfest set and Australian tour, Noble adds, “I am pleased to advise that our search to replace Neil Young is bearing fruit and we look forward to making an artist announcement soon after we return from our annual vacation on the week of January 9.”
Ticket-holders for Gibb’s cancelled headline shows will receive refunds automatically (or via Ticketek if paid by cash or EFTPOS), while Blyron Bay Bluesfest patrons are offered to refund Monday Single Day Tickets from 20th December until seven days after the festival’s announces replacement acts for its Easter Monday sets.
