Ex-Queens Of The Stone Age Bassist Nick Oliveri Is Coming To Australia

Controversial former Queens Of The Stone Age and Kyuss bassist Nick Oliveri is coming back to Australia for a national tour, as well as an appearance at Brisbane’s Mojo Burning Festival.

Oliveri, who was part of QOTSA from 1998 to 2004, is set to headline the boutique Mojo Burning event in March, and festival organisers have said the announcement of a national tour from the muso is “looming”.

Oliveri hasn’t performed solo in Australia since his 2009/2010 ‘Death Acoustic’ national tour, and has been keeping himself busy by touring with the likes of Mondo Generator, Kyuss Lives and The Dwarves since then.

Oliveri was famously arrested back in 2011, for felony domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend, resisting police and possession of cocaine, methamphetamines and a loaded rifle. He faced up to 15 years in prison, but was dismissed of six felony counts and charged with cocaine possession. His sentence was three years of probation, including anger management therapy and community service.

Mojo Burning Festival is set to take place across three stages on 25th March, at Brisbane’s Hamilton Hotel. Catch the event’s full lineup, below.
