Sticky Fingers have officially shut up shop for the time being, performing their final show before swanning off on an“indefinite hiatus” at Tassie’s Party In The Paddock last night. But you’ll be glad to know this isn’t goodbye, with the band confirming that — much like Arnie’s Terminator — they’ll be back.
Taking to the stage for a show-stealing set, the boys from Newtown reportedly told the crowd: “There’s a huge difference between hiatus and breaking up” (via Examiner), which pretty much guarantees we haven’t seen the last of the moustachioed, bucket hat-lovin’ Outcasts At Last.
ICYMI: StiFi previously announced plans to bench themselves on “indefinite hiatus” due to “internal issues”, unveiling a final run of shows (that culminated with yesterday’s PITP set) before adding “thats it from us, for now”.
Following their announcement, it emerged that Aussie singer Thelma Plum had accused frontman Dylan Frost of bullying and “violence towards women,” detailing an “incident” between the pair only days before. Frost then took to Facebook to apologise and reveal that he’s been, “dealing with alcohol addiction and mental health issues,” and added that he’d be seeking “rehabilitation and therapy”.
According to Photographer Mitch Lowe, the Stickies “left us in style last night”, performing a killer set that culminated with bassist Paddy Cornwall dousing the crowd in champagne.
“Sticky fingers killed it, by the way they aren’t splitting up they are just taking a break!” another punter posted on Instagram.
So this isn’t goodbye. Let’s just call it smell ya later.
