Frank Ocean has debuted a radio show on Beats 1 out of nowhere blonded RADIO, interviewing Jay Z on the first episode.
The show isn’t hosted by Ocean but by London-based producer Vegyn, London DJ Roof Access and blogger Federico Aliprandi.
It comes off the back of the release of his new track ‘Slide’ with Calvin Harris and Migos yesterday. That track was played on the show as well as Blonde tracks ‘Nights’ and ‘Pink + White’.
Ocean appeared at the tail end of the show in an interview with Jay Z about the state of radio in 2017. The two are notorious for giving very few interviews.
“These places are not even based on music,” Jay said about today’s radio stations.
“It’s not even about the DJ discovering what music is best. You know, music is music. The line’s just been separated so much that we’re lost at this point in time.”
Jay further called on radio to be more “progressive,” further saying, “the music, the musicians, radio, and these things that are supposed to be instruments for the arts, should exist.”
Alongside the interview and Ocean playing his own music, the show also featured tunes by Aphex Twin, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Outkast and Future.
