Gorillaz albums typically feature plenty of rappers but the leader of the cartoon gang Damon Albarn is not a rapper himself.
That’s probably why he found it so difficult when he was asked to freestyle on US radio.
Albarn appeared on ‘Sway In The Morning’ bringing with him De La Soul’s Pos and producer Twilite Tone. Sway hosts many rappers and traditionally asks them to do a freestyle at the end of the segment.
He didn’t hold back asking Albarn and co to do a freestyle and the results were predictably not great.
Albarn attempted to sing over the beat while Pos and Twilite Tone did their best to lay down some bars. It descended mostly into laughter but Albarn, bless his soul, kept persisting.
Maybe he should’ve brought along some of the other guests who appear on the group’s most recent record HUMNAZ like Vince Staples, Pusha T or D.R.A.M.
