Joseph Kahn, the director of Taylor Swift‘s forthcoming video for ‘Look What You Made Me Do’, has been forced to deny the video copies a scene from Beyoncé‘s ‘Formation’ after Twitter started spreading the similarities.
Swift dropped a teaser for the video shortly after she released the song on Friday and one scene in particular was compared to the visual for ‘Formation’ off Bey’s groundbreaking 2016 record Lemonade.
“I’ve worked with Beyoncé a few times. She’s an amazing person. The #LWYMMDvideo is not in her art space,” Kahn wrote on Twitter.
“Also there’s something to that “formation” shot I painted out and you haven’t seen yet.”
The video is set to debut at the MTV Video Music Awards which will air in Australia tomorrow morning. No doubt the internet will go into overdrive with opinions and memes just like they did when the song dropped on Friday.
Just a few days after the release, Swift is already breaking records. The lyric video for the song clocked more views in 24 hours than any other lyric video which is a pretty good indication there will be plenty of eyes on the official video.
