Scottish indie heroes Franz Ferdinand have thrown themselves into the Splendour In The Grass rumour mill, after revealing they will “definitely” be touring Australia “soon” behind their latest album Always Ascending.
Speaking with Music Feeds contributor Riley Fitzgerald this morning, frontman Alex Kapranos said the band “do have plans to come back over”.
“They haven’t been confirmed yet, so I can’t share them with you just now but all I can say is soon,” he said.
“There is something definitely happening. All I can say is that it’s really exciting, we can’t wait to do it! But I don’t think I can announce it yet I’m sorry, I know that’s really lame.
“But yeah! It’s been ages and we didn’t manage to get over with [previous album] Right Thoughts, Right Words, [Right Action] which was such a disappointment. I can’t wait to get back over, it’s going to be a particularly special visit this time. It’s going to definitely be one to remember.”
Interestingly, Franz Ferdinand currently have US and European tour dates locked in up to 15th July 2018, but Splendour In The Grass 2018 is going down between 20th and 22nd July…
Franz Ferdinand last toured Australia in 2013, and have since been joined by two new members following the departure of founding rhythm guitarist Nick McCarthy in 2016.
Stay tuned for Music Feeds‘ full interview with Alex Kapranos, coming soon.
