Melbourne sunny pop outfit Panel Of Judges are making their way up the East Coast this week to launch their latest album, Moods On The Move at SIAMESE at GoodGod this Thursday night alongside Circle Pit and Marf Loth, and in Melbourne at The Tote with Peak Twins, Woollen Kits, Parading and Beaches DJs, playing what will be their last Australian shows of 2011.
Building a fanbase over the years on the back of their sunny 80s and 90s inspired pop, the band, affectionately know as Panel around Melbourne, have made the strongest showing of their career so far with Moods On The Move, the addition of Martin Frawley from The Twerps on guitar adding a new dimension to their blissful sound.
The live show too has been altered with Frawley’s inclusion, not dramatically but noticeably, with the band having been through more than just line-up changes since the release of their previous album Bad Vibrations in 2008, with songwriters Dion Nania and Alison Bolger‘s long term relationship having come to an end. Moods On The Move then, even in the title, refers to an atmosphere of change and rearrangement.
With their upcoming album launch shows set to be their last before Dion moves to New York and Alison embarks on her own journey of motherhood, these shows offer a rare opportunity to see the band in their current form, one that may not be repeated.
Be sure not to miss their album launch this Thursday July 14th at SIAMESE at GoodGod Small Club, and next Saturday July 23rd at The Tote. Moods On The Move is out now on Mistletone.
