Tributes are flowing in for Avicii, following the tragic news of his sudden death at the age of just 28.
As the world struggles to come to grips with the shock of his loss, many of his musical peers including Calvin Harris, Deadmau5, Dua Lipa, One Direction’s Liam Payne, Zedd, Rita Ora, Kaskade and more have taken to social media to honour the legendary Swedish producer and share their grief.
Harris has described Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, as “a beautiful soul, passionate and extremely talented with so much more to do”, Deadmau5 said “nobody can deny what he has accomplished and done for modern dance music”, while Ora and Kaskade both said they were “heartbroken” by the news of his death.
Avicii’s cause of death is not yet known, but the beloved Swedish DJ’s publicist has confirmed to Billboard that his body was found in Oman.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii,” an official press statement reads.
“He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”
The Grammy-nominated EDM legend retired from touring back in 2016 after several years of ongoing health issues, including “acute pancreatitis, in part due to excessive drinking”.
He was hospitalised in 2012, before suffering from sporadic stomach issues a year later leading eventually to a ruptured appendix, along with needing to have his gallbladder removed in 2014.
He last toured Australia in 2013 as part of Future Music Festival, and was taken to hospital in Brisbane during that time.

. @Avicii was talented and kind, and I was genuinely excited to see what would come next from him. His future most certainly should have been written beyond age 28. I am
heartbroken.
Rest easy Tim.— Kaskade (@kaskade) April 20, 2018
