Frightened Rabbit singer Scott Hutchison has passed away at the age of 36.
Hutchison was reported missing earlier in the week after he didn’t return to his hotel room in South Queensferry, Scotland on Wednesday. His brother and bandmate Grant said that he was in a “fragile state”.
BBC reported a body had been found at Port Edgar on Thursday evening shortly before his bandmates confirmed his passing.
“There are no words to describe the overwhelming sadness and pain that comes with the death of our beloved Scott but to know he is no longer suffering brings us some comfort,” they wrote on social media.
In a statement (via The Mirror) his family said they were “utterly devastated”.
“He was passionate, articulate and charismatic, as well as being one of the funniest and kindest people we knew,” they said.
Members of the music community have paid tribute to Hutchison with many taking to social media.
Alt-J wrote that they were “deeply saddened” by the news while Biffy Clyro said they were “so so sad”.
“Devastated Scott is gone,” The National‘s Aaron Dessner wrote.
“My heart goes out to his family and bandmates. A dear soul and a brilliant songwriter.”
British musician Frank Turner also shared a heartwarming message paying tribute to Hutchison, remembering his “shining, beautiful life”.
“I remember Scott giving great Scottish hugs, cracking jokes, apologising for being drunk, always being kind. He lit up the sky with his voice, his songs, his heart, and I will forever be in awe of his genius,” he wrote.
“He was the kind of guy who, if he came up in conversation, people would talk over each other, in a hurry to say how wonderful he was. He was my friend and today I am heartbroken. Talk to someone, don’t try to keep it all inside.”

I can’t stop thinking about Scott from Frightened Rabbit. Even though I didn’t know him, something about it feels so personal. You could connect so deeply with him through his lyrics, feeling his highs and lows. He was a genius and he will be sorely missed.
