Bob Dylan’s Grandson Releases Hip Hop Mixtape

It sure is a far cry from Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, but Bob Dylan‘s grandson is embarking on a career in hip hop.

Pablo Dylan, age 15, is the son of Dylan’s eldest son, Jesse, who is a film director and media executive. Jesse’s mother, and Pablo’s grandmother is Sarah Lownds, who was married to Dylan from 1965 to 1977.

Jesse’s younger brother, Jakob, enjoys a successful music career as a solo performer and as a member of the Wallflowers. He’s always peddled a folkish sort of rock, but young Pablo’s interests lie in a decidedly different area.

Pablo recently released his first mixtape, entitled 10 Minutes, a release he hopes will launch his career as a rapper. The cover of 10 Minutes even sees the youngster striking an expression not unlike his grandpa on The Times They Are a-Changin’.

In an interview with AllHipHop.com, Pablo paid tribute to his grandfather, comparing him with Jay-Z. He said, “I mean, really, my grandfather, I consider him the Jay-Z of his time. And he definitely has a legacy that a lot of people look up to. He feels strongly about my music and I love him to death.

“What I have done, I mean from a musical and personal standpoint, is definitely influenced by him,” he added. “Everyone around me influences me, and I have learned so much from him just listening to his records, but I hope his music continues to live on through what I continue to do the rest of my life.”

Spinner reports that Pablo’s next project is to be a single with Darnell Robinson and Lil Chuckee of Young Money. Pablo Dylan’s mother is the actress Susan Traylor.
