Pete Townshend Reveals Plans For ‘Quadrophenia’ Tour

Pete Townshend has revealed his plans for The Who to tour their 1973 concept album Quadrophenia next year. The guitarist, songwriter and singer outlined the tour on The Who‘s website, though no dates have yet been confirmed.

Elsewhere in Townshend’s blog post, he explained his reasons for sitting out the current tour from bandmate Roger Daltrey. He said, “The reason I am not on the road with Roger is that this is entirely Roger’s adventure, one that is bringing him great joy. I don’t belong on this Tommy tour. I wish him well, sincerely, and I look forward to playing with Roger again doing Quadrophenia next year.”

Daltrey’s is currently touring The Who’s 1969 album Tommy, with Pete’s brother Simon filling in on guitar.

Townshend also moved to quash suggestions his hearing is on its last legs, saying his hearing was ‘better than ever’. Daltrey had said earlier this year that Townshend’s capacities had been severely reduced due to his impaired hearing these days.

Earlier this year, Harper Collins announced they had snapped up the publishing rights to Townshend’s massively anticipated memoir, and will publish the book next year. The tome will be called Pete Townshend: Who He? The memoir has been over a decade in the writing.
