Deftones are chucking a Slipknot/Ozzy Osbourne/King Gizzard and creating their own flippin’ festival!
Going down on November 3rd in San Diego, it’s called ‘Dia de los Deftones’ and the lineup is, well, kind of surprising.
The Chino Moreno-fronted alt-metallers will be headlining (naturally) on top of an eight-act bill that also features rap lord Future and Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, plus local punks Rocket From The Crypt, punk-hip-hop duo H09909 (pronounced ‘Horror’), Doja Cat, Roman death-metallers Vein and Australia’s own (now LA-based) death-pop duo, Vowws.
Speaking about Deftones’ foray into the festival market, Moreno says: “For years, we’ve played on festivals with such amazing and diverse line-ups and that is what we have achieved with our first line-up for Dia de Los Deftones.
“We want this event to be a celebration; with the incredible artists we’ve assembled, and the experiences we’re curating for the festival site, it’s going to be a wonderful day and night for all who join us.”
Drummer Abe Cunningham says: “We are absolutely thrilled to have such fantastic and credible artists joining us on this maiden voyage, and we look forward to bringing it to you.”
We wouldn’t be upset if they decided to bring it to Australia, that’s for sure.
