Hot on the heels of Chvrches’ huge Kendrick Lamar cover for last week’s Like A Version, today’s contestant was another international guest from the Splendour In The Grass lineup; Miguel.
After smashing out his OG track ‘Pineapple Skies’ live at JHQ, the LA singer, songwriter and producer wrapped his soulful pipes around a deep cut from Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 1999 Californication album.
He delivered a stripped-back, delicate, silky-smooth version of guitar ballad ‘Porcelain’, which brought some listeners to tears.
Speaking about his choice to cover the Chilis, after Aussie RNB star B Wise tackled ‘Under The Bridge’ a few weeks back for LIV, Miguel remarked that the appeal of their music comes from frontman Anthony Keidis’s melodic flow.
“Keidis has a flow,” he explained.
Watch Miguel’s ‘Porcelain’ cover below, and stay tuned for next week when fellow international Splendour-benders Superorganism will be in the triple J studio for Like A Version.
